Korea where individuality does not exist

These days in South Korea, you can find a person wearing long-padded-jacket every 5 seconds on the street even in countryside. Since South Korea people have been told not to be a dotted-person, being a characteristic person is thought to be bad. And I think it is kind of waste of culture. Everyone has a right to wear anything he or she wants to wear. But in Korea, it is not like the States. Many people like to judge on clothing what people wear and people like to judge people by their appearance and look. I really don't like this and can't believe this is quite common to people in South Korea. Though I am a Korean I do not understand how people can be this much judgmental. I would say it is the bad habit that most of Korean people have. If someone ask me how come Korean people are so good at dressing, I would say it is because Koreans do care what people see themselves. 요즘 한국에서는 롱패딩이 유행이다. 한국 겨울 길거리를 걷다보면 5초 안에 다른 롱패딩 입은 사람을 볼 수 있다. 한국에서는 튀는 사람이 되지 말라고 가르침을 받아 와서 그런지 사람들의 옷차림이 개성이 없고, 사람들은 자신의 의견을 사람이 많은 곳에서 자신있고 당당하게 말하는 것을 꺼리는 경우가 많다. 모임에서 말을 많이 하고 다른 사람과 주장이 다르면 어쩌지 라는 생각을 갖고 있기 때문이라고 생각한다. 해외 사람들이 한국 사람들은 옷을 정말 잘 입는다고 말하는데, 누군가 나에게 한국 사람들은 어떻게 이렇게 옷을 잘 입냐고 물어본다면 나는 한국 사람들은 다른 사람이 자신을 어떻게 보는지에 대해 신경을 많이 쓴다고 대답할 것이다.

It is not a rare picture or rare situation you will ever see. It is very mediocre in normal High schools in South Korea. Most of every member in the school is wearing same brand and most of them are dark colors. As I mentioned at the first paragraph, it is because Korean people have been told not to be dotted. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying that everyone has to be dotted and special character, it has pros and cons. 지금 올리는 사진은 희귀한 사진이 아니고 굉장히 평범한 사진이다. 한국 중고등학교에서 쉽게 볼 수 있는 상황이다. 그리고 대부분 어두운 색상의 자켓을 입었다. 이미 첫번째 문단에서 말했듯이 한국 사람들은 어렸을 때 부터 튀지 말라고 가르침을 받아와서 그렇다. 오해하지 마라. 모든 인원이 개성이 있어야 하고 튀어야 한다는 의미가 아니다. 장단점이 있다.

I thought "What if there's no school uniform in Korea Schools?". Can you imagine how it would be like? If there's no school uniform regulation in public schools in South Korea, I dare expect many students will dress by themselves more characteristic. 한국에 교복이 없다면 이라고 생각해 본 적이 있다. 한국 학교에 교복이 없다면 학생들이 더 개성있게 옷을 입을 것 같다. 교복이 없으면 학생들 의류비가 많이 지출되니까 악영향도 있긴하다. 그래도 성인이 되면 학생들이 점점 자신의 개성을 찾아간다는 생각이 든다. As of 21st century, however, adult people in Korea became more individualistic and characteristic than ever before. I could tell that a lot more people became freewheeling. 그런데 21세기 이후로 한국 사람들도 이전보다 훨씬 더 자유분방해진 것 같다.
