Day 2: One Day Trip in Hong Kong Island

 콜롬보에서 5시간 정도? 비행기를 타고 홍콩에 도착했다. 콜롬보에서 힘들었던 점은 너무나도 긴 대기 시간. 홍콩, 중국 사람들이 스리랑카에도 많았다(사실 중국 사람들은 어디에도 많다). 그렇게 홍콩에 도착하니 정말 기쁠 것이라고 생각했지만 또 다른 고생이 시작되었다. 집이 최고다.

 It took me about 5 hours from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Hong Kong. Finally arrived. The thing that bothered me the most was the fact that I had to wait too long for immigration in Colombo Airport. I never knew there were so many Chinese and Hong Kong people traveling in Sri Lanka. I was expecting that it'd be better once I get Hong Kong but it was the beginning of another suffering. Don't go outside of your home. Home is the best.

 premium economy 를 탔기 때문에 이코노미 탑승자들보다 빨리 비행기에서 내릴 수 있었다. 그래서 나는 빨리 홍콩을 보고 싶은 마음에 (그리고 입국 심사에서 또 기다리기 싫어서) 엄청 빠르게 입국심사장에 도착했다. 그런데 심사장에서 이렇게 빨리 왔냐면서 마약 검사를 하겠다고 갑자기 가방을 모두 내려놓고 신발도 벗으라고 했다. 어이가 없어서 빨리 나가봐야 된다고 마약 없다고 했다. 경찰은 더 의심된다고 빨리 가방을 모두 열고, 신발이랑 외투를 벗으라고 했다. 정말 어이가 없었다. 결국 비행기에서 가장 먼저 내렸지만 결과적으로 홍콩 입국은 제일 늦게 했다. 너무 서두르면 오해를 받을 수 있으니 차분하게 적당히 빨리 갈 것을 추천한다.

 Since I had my flight with 'premium economy' which is one level better than normal 'economy' I could get off from the flight faster than any other passengers. As soon as I could un-fasten my seat belt, I prepared to get off. Because I really didn't want to wait for a long time again, I just straighted to the immigration to get out of the airport but the police officers who were standing at the immigration thought I had something so they didn't let me pass the immigration. I was very embarrassed because I needed to go to Victoria Peak for real quick and needed to back to the airport to transfer to New York. They doubted if I had drugs and they ordered me to open all my baggage and take off my shoes and jackets. THIS WAS SO UNEXPECTED. Told them "I am not a drug dealer but a college student" but they never listened to me. They body-checked me and check all my baggages, pockets in my pants and even my socks. (They might think I concealed something weird in the socks) Even though I got off from the plane real quick but I passed the immigration the last.

 프리미엄 이코노미 좌석을 이용하면 받을 수 있는 혜택을 받기 위해 홍콩 공항 2층에서 기다렸다. 대단한 것은 아니다.

 I waited on the second floor of Hong Kong Airport to benefit from the using premium economy seat. Not a big deal tho.

 이제부터 홍콩 공항에서 에어 익스프레스를 타고 홍콩 아일랜드 역에서 내려서 빅토리아 피크까지 걸어가는 과정을 사진으로 담았다. 정말 힘들었다. 홍콩역에서 빅토리아 피크까지 걸어간 이유는 단 하나. "돈이 없어서". 홍콩 달러 화폐를 환전을 안 했다. 카드를 쓰면 되지 않느냐고 질문을 할 것을 안다. 카드도 해외 인출 허용을 한국에서 안 하고 왔다. 완전 미쳤다. 그래서 무엇을 할 수가 없었다. 말 그대로 거지였다. 미 달러를 받는 곳이 있으면 좋겠지만 거의 안 받는다. 

 From now on, I'll show the pictures of the process of walking from Hong Kong Island Station to Victoria Peak. The only reason I walked from HongKong Station to Victoria Peak was "I do not have money." I did not exchange the HongKong dollar currency. I know you will say "You have a debit or credit card tho". I didn't let my credit card and debit card be available in abroad when I was in Korea. So I could not do anything. I was literally a beggar. I wish there was a place to receive US dollars, but Hong Kong rarely receives it.

 홍콩에 도착하니까 확실히 스리랑카와는 분위기가 다르다. 정말 다른 세계에 도착한 것 같았다. 그런데 공기는 미세먼지가 홍콩이 워낙 심해서 스리랑카 보다 공기가 안 좋았다. 그런데 사람들이 영어를 할 줄 알아서 의사소통에 문제가 없었기 때문에 빅토리아 피크까지 걸어갈 수 있었다.

 When I arrived in Hong Kong, it was definitely different from Sri Lanka. It seemed to have arrived in a different world. However, the air was so bad that the air was worse than Sri Lanka because of the fine dust in Hong Kong. But because people knew how to speak English and had no communication problems, I could walk to Victoria Peak.

 Somewhere near Hong Kong Station. I don't remember the name of this place. Haha.

I walked and walked to the Victoria Peak. 홍콩역에서 나오자마자 계속 걸었다. 혹시 빅토리아 피크에 걸어가는 사람이 또 있지 않을까 하는 마음에 사람들에게 계속 말을 걸면서 갔는데 역시 홍콩 사람들은 모두 바쁘다. 바쁘거나 조금 연세가 있는 분들은 영어로 의사소통하기 어렵다. 그렇다고 내가 홍콩 언어를 할 줄 모르기 때문에 아쉬웠다. As soon as I arrived in Hong Kong Island, I walked and walked to the Victoria Peak without taking a rest even a single minute. While walking to the place, I asekd people who were walking to same direction with me if they were heading to Victoria Peak but none of them was. Of course, Hong Kong people are busy as hell.

빅토리아 피크를 걸어가는 미친 짓을 나 외에는 아무도 안 했으면 좋겠지만 같이 걸어가는 프랑스 사람이 있어서 다행이었다. 하마터면 길을 잃을 뻔 했지만 프랑스 사람들이 도와줬다. 정말 힘들었고 이런 짓을 왜 하는지 이해가 안됐다. 그들은 운동하려고 걸어간다고 했다. 나는 돈이 없어서 걸어가는데... 부러웠다 ㅋㅋㅋ I met a couple of French people who were heading to the same place as me, so we hiked together. I asked them why not taking a bus or tram? "We are working-out" they said. I felt jealous and kind of humiliated because i was hiking since I don't have money to take a bus.

 홍콩 사람들은 농구를 정말 좋아한다. 체조랑 농구가 생활체육으로는 최고 인기라고 한다. 나도 같이 했는데 솔직히 아시아에서 농구는 한중일 제외하면 다 못한다. 내가 이겼다. KOREA PRIDE.

 Hong Kong people really like to play basketball. It's said that basketball is the most popular sport in Hong Kong. I played one on one with one of them in the picture and I won. KOREA PRIDE.

 Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Garden. 이곳을 돌아다닐 때 어린 유치원생 친구들이 견학을 하고 있었다. 그리고 내가 외국인처럼 보였는지 쳐다봤다. 귀여웠다.

 When I was looking around in the garden there were kindergarten kids were having school trip in the same place. They stared at me for a few seconds probably because I look like a foreigner. They were cute.

거의 다 도착했다.

 홍콩 미세먼지를 보여주는 기상캐스터가 된 느낌이었다. 돈이 없어서 물 한 모금 못 마시고 2시간? 3시간 걸어서 도착했지만 경치는 미세먼지 밖에 없었다ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ허탈.

 I felt like I was a weatherman in HongKong. I walked and hiked without taking a rest even a minute and drinking water but all I could see at the top was the fine dust. Wasted. Disappointed but not surprised.

사진만 찍고 곧 바로 내려갔다. Went back to the downtown after taking a few pictures at the top.

 Looking around in the downtown~ I could find the face of many people were like "Different day, same pattern". Hong Kong people are really busy. 홍콩에서 근무하는 사람들은 많이 피곤한가 보다. 사람들의 얼굴을 보니 "다른 날, 같은 패턴의 하루" 라고 쓰여져 있었다.

 Though I arrived to the ferry station I could do nothing because I didn't have money at all (I actually had money but it was not Hong Kong Dollar).

It was about 2pm (if what I remember is right) but still foggy and no sun. 오후 2시로 기억하는데 해는 볼 수도 없었고 여전히 미세먼지와 구름이 많았다. 긍정적으로 생각하면 비가 안 온 것이 다행이고, 부정적으로 생각하면 날씨가 안 좋았다. 

AIA를 보니 축구선수 손흥민이 떠올랐다. 토트넘 스폰서 광고 효과 성공이다.

사람들이 굉장히 많았는데 외국인들은 거의 없었고 현지 사람들이 많았다. 사진을 찍어달라고 했는데 이해를 못한건지 거절당했다. I thought of the football player, Son Heung Min as I saw the ad of AIA in the middle of the ferris wheel. There were many local people but not many foreigners.

 이제 다시 홍콩역으로 걸어가는 길에 신기한 아저씨가 스프레이로 그림을 그리고 있었다. I encountered the street artist who was painting with the cans of spray on my way to Hong Kong island station. 

 Can you see the paint placed in his right side? He painted this picture using only one can of spray. Talented people are everywhere. Huge respect to this old street artist.

Day 1: Colombo to Hong Kong

Kandy에서 기차를 타고 Colombo 기차역에서 내렸다. 그리고 콜롬보 시내를 조금 둘러보다가 콜롬보 공항으로 도착했다. 당신이 알아둬야 할 것은 스리랑카는 교통이 정말 안 좋다. I got off the Colombo train station by train from Kandy, and I looked around the Colombo downtown and arrived at Colombo Airport. You should know that Sri Lanka's transportation system is really not good.

 콜롬보 공항에 사람들이 정말 많았다. 스리랑카에 관광하러 오는 사람들이 은근히 많았다. 스리랑카에 가려면 비자도 필요해서 사람들이 오지 않을 것이라고 생각했는데 아니었던 것 같다.  스리랑카 공항에서 출국심사만 1시간 넘게 기다렸다. 실화인가. There were so many people at the Colombo Airport. There were many people who came to Sri Lanka to visit. I thought people would not come because (expensive) visiting Visa is needed to visit to Sri Lanka. I waited for more than an hour to check out the departure from Sri Lanka Airport.

스리랑카에서 홍콩으로 가는 기내식이다. 너무 조금 줘서 진짜 배고팠다. 다음 포스트부터는 홍콩 여행, 미국 여행, 캐나다 여행, 일본 여행, 인도네시아 여행을 다루겠습니다! It's an airline meal from Sri Lanka to Hong Kong. I was really hungry because they gave it a too little. As of the next post, I will share Hong Kong, the USA, Canada, Japan and Indonesia trip.
